YES Summer Camp 2016: Different Europe is Possible!

Summer Camp of Young European Socialists was held this year with more than 1100 participants from 41 delegation all over the Europe. The camp was hosted by comrades from La Federazione dei Giovani Socialisti and support of Giovani Democratici in Terrassini (Sicily).

Summer Camp gathered delegations of SD9 members that actively participated at workshops and lectures during the Camp. Summer Camp was opportunity to exchange opinion on ongoing topics among us, as well as with comrades from Europe and older colleagues. MEPs, friends from PES and PES Women, Global Progressive Forum and other partner organizations during the camp talked on numerous issues in formal and informal atmosphere.

During the cam Bureau Meeting was held and decisions that are going to direct future work of YES were made. Activities on promotion of #Act4Youth plan and new campaign are one of big jobs that are waiting for us.

PES President Sergei Stanishev participated in “Fishbowl debate” where he answered the questions of activists about #Act4Youth. PES Women President Zita Gurmai discussed woman rights and #Power2Women campaign with activists during couple of sessions.

Utoya commemoration was held, to remember our comrades who were killed because of the hate of extreme right. It has been five years since than, and pain is still here.

Summer Camp was one more opportunity for informal meetings and new partnerships. Balkan organizations met with comrades from Germany, Austria, Belgium and other countries.
